THE IMPACT OF YOUR THOUGHTS ON HEALTH BY OLARONKE GBADEBO

Thoughts are things.
Thoughts are seeds that deeply burrowed into soul, which with time will bring forth fruits according to it’s kind.

To truly enjoy a healthy life, you must give attention to the state of your soul.
There are many people on strict diet and fitness programs, though good in itself, yet do not experience the kind of health their hearts yearns for, due to the state of their soul.

Engaging in regular physical exercise without looking after the inner man might not produce the self-satisfaction and self-acceptance needed for effective living
Many spends countless hours hopping from one exercise program to another yet their inner dialogue rejects the body. Eventually the body will play out the state of the mind. No wonder the owner of life says “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he”. Not as a man does, but as he thinks.

Your thoughts determine what you do, what you feel and provides fuel for your imagination.
The easiest to cripple a man is to focus his whole attention on something that only produces negativity.
The beclouding of negative thoughts on his mind will eventually color his interpretation of life issues, choices, emotions, and lifestyle.

You are living a healthy life when you are experiencing wellness and you are sound spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically. The effect of dysfunctionality in any of these areas will ultimately spill over into other areas and affect your output.
It’s not surprising many that are sound spiritually yet are emotional weak, or those that physically fit but mentally unstable.
To enjoy good health as God intends, deliberate and calculated attention must be given to all aspects of our lives.

Here are ways your thoughts can impact your health

  1. Your thoughts control your choices which eventually has an impact on your health

If you think you don’t need exercise, no matter how many motivational seminars or workshops you attend on exercise, there will always be excuses not to.
Same applies to eating habit. If you believe you can eat anything , your eating habit will not change until that mindset is addressed. Continually exposing your mind to toxicity of any kind knowing fully well it might affect your mental health is indicate of an underlying wrong mindset. You cannot grow beyond your level of thought pattern. A man who makes external alterations without an initial change of his thinking process will fall back to old habits

2. It pays rich dividends whether good or bad.

Our thoughts are not partial or sentimental, and are incapable of favoritism. It gives honest feedback and dividends too.
Allowing negative mindsets about health will create an unhealthy lifestyle, and its effects will ultimately show up in your body and soul.
Dividends do not accrue overnight but over a period of time. Some of the health challenges that people battle with i.e. diabetes, stroke, heart problems, obesity, mental instability could be as a result of years of choices influenced by negative mindsets, that is now beginning to play out. The law of cause and effect means, if you keep thinking positively the eventual result of life is positive. Sowing negative thoughts will reinforce negative behavior leading to unwanted illnesses and diseases

3. It can alter purpose and destiny

Your thoughts affect your choices which will ultimately play out in the impact or influence you can render to others.
If you feed your mind with thoughts that are in line with God’s mindset for you, you will reap harvest of love, joy, peace, fruitfulness, and a sense of satisfaction that is priceless.
However, if negativity pervades your thoughts, it will corrode any form of life and you might end up struggling with not only physical issues, but also relational, emotional, financial one’s.

That is why I love God’s recommendation or guidelines for our thought life.

Philippians 4:8 – Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Adherence to these forms of thought-expression will surely pay great dividends and have a great impact on your physical and mental health
